BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Five children playing in the kiddie pool at the West YMCA have contracted a bacteria based skin infection, YMCA officials say.

The YMCA says it recently was contracted by Central District Health Department that the kids contracted mycobacterium abscessus, a bacteria that's found naturally in water and soil.

"At the Treasure Valley Family YMCA, the safety of our members and participants is our top priority, and we are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness," the Y said in a news release.

Mycobacterium abscessus can cause skin infections that look like red bumps or blisters usually on the hands and/or feet. The pool has been cleaned and has been re-opened with the OK from the CDHD.
