Suspected monkey killer pleads not guilty to burglary, grand theft

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The man accused of beating a Zoo Boise monkey to death has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the crime.
Michael Watkins was in court Thursday where he made the plea. He's been charged with burglary and grand theft and also providing false information to police.
Prosecutors say Watkins, 22, entered Zoo Boise, manipulated a lock to get into the primate enclosure and removed the patas monkey by wrapping it in his jacket. Watkins allegedly clubbed the monkey after it bit him. It died a short time later.
Zoo Boise has since received two new patas monkeys from a zoo in New York.
someone needs to beat his ass. This country needs to bring back lashings as punishment. Give this monkey ten lashings and I bet he'd never even "think" about breaking the law. It would solve prison overcrowding as well as saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
