Tractor-trailer slams into bridge on I-84
DECLO, Idaho (AP) - A state official says a tractor-trailer crash Sunday morning that led to a fire on a bridge on Interstate 84 in south-central Idaho caused mostly cosmetic damage to the bridge.
Idaho Transportation Department spokesman Nathan Jerke tells The Times-News that the bridge over the Snake River east of Burley was damaged when the truck's fuel tank on the cab caught fire.
He says crews will assess the damage Monday on the bridge that was already scheduled to be replaced in the next few years.
Police say the 49-year-old driver of the truck was not injured when he drove off the right shoulder and hit a guardrail.
