'Great time of year' as snow falls on Treasure Valley

HORSESHOE BEND, Idaho (KBOI) - A puddle was the only evidence of the first significant snowfall of the season by Saturday afternoon.

"Woke up, I noticed the foothills had snow on them, so I figured my travel would be kind of wet, and it was," said Bryan Gilliam of Emmett. "So you have to drive a little slower, a little safer, especially early in the morning. By afternoon, this time of year, it'll melt off."

Tamarack Resort logged 7 inches of snow, while a viewer in Donnelly measured 6.34 inches.

"It's nice to see the snow up on the hills and now that the sun's breaking out this afternoon, it's pretty," said Kit Smith, who owns a restaurant in Horseshoe Bend. "It's a good place to be."

The city of 707 people woke up to an inch of snow.

"I'm ready for the people to start getting out and playing in the snow with their snowmobiles and skiing and stuff," Gilliam said. "It's a fun crowd. The place livens up, it's around the holidays, great time of year."
