BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman featured on Eyewitness News for having the first Bakersfield baby born in 2014 is in jail on accusations of drug crimes.

Robin Howard was in Kern County court on Monday to plead not guilty to drug possession charges.

Howard was already in custody with an ankle monitor when an old warrant for her arrest surfaced, according to her attorney. She was arrested two days after giving birth and is currently being held in jail on $25,000 bail.

Her daughter, Addison Shell, was born at 1:37 a.m. New Year's Day.
