PORTLAND, Ore. – The days of the “CHA-LU-PA!” chants at Trail Blazers home games are over.

The team announced Monday it has partnered with McDonald’s for the next five seasons to give away vouchers for free Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwiches when the team scores at least 100 points.

“This is one of the most popular in-arena promotions in sports. The crowd noise noticeably escalates as the Trail Blazers approach 100 points. The extra energy level contributes to our home court advantage,” said Trail Blazers President Chris McGowan.

The team will encourage fans to chant “MICK-E-DEES!” as the team approaches 100 points.

The promotion will officially begin at the team’s home opener Nov. 2 against the San Antonio Spurs.

Fans who attend that game will be offered a voucher for a free Sausage McMuffin with Egg when they arrive at the Moda Center, and a second voucher if the team scores 100 points that night.
