SANDPOINT, ID - Former NFL star and Capital High (Boise) standout Jake Plummer has joined the staff of Sandpoint High as an assistant football coach.

Head coach Mike Mitchell told CBS2 sports2night high school sports partner Idahosports.com that he had hired the former NFL quarterback, saying, "We have acquired the services of Jake Plummer to add to our football staff. Jake is a 10 year vet of the NFL and we are excited to have him join us."

Plummer grew up in the Treasure Valley, playing Optimist youth football, and starring at Capital High. He went on to star at Arizona State University and was drafted by the NFL's Arizona Cardinals in the 1997 NFL draft.

Plummer also played for the Denver Broncos and retired after being traded to Tampa Bay in the 2007 offseason.
