SALT LAKE CITY--Mountain West Conference commissioner Craig Thompson was ask directly about including Boise State and Fresno State in expansion Wednesday. His comments were picked up by blogs and taken as a ray of hope to Boise State fans, but in the rest of his answer it seems the MWC isn't ready to start think about schools.

"We've spent a lot of time talking in general about expansion but not specifically any institution," Thompson told Dan Sheldon of KUTV CBS in Salt Lake City, "the conversation at the Board of Directors level has centered on maybe a tenth would help us."

Thompson went on to say that scheduling is as much of an issue as anything with several MWC schools having out of conference rivalries to consider. Thompson left the door open for expansion to help in the conference's BCS inclusion but stopped well short of saying Boise State was the team that would help the most.
