Bronco women earn invite to the WBI
Boise State women's basketball falls to Southern Utah in the season opener, 90-86 at Taco Bell Arena on Friday Night.
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women’s basketball team has had its season extended when the Broncos accepted a bid to play in the Women’s Basketball Invitational “WBI.”

Boise State will head to Phoenix, Ariz., to face the Grand Canyon Antelopes on Thursday night. This will mark the first postseason tournament for the Broncos since advancing to the second round of the WNIT in 2008.

“We are excited to keep playing this spring and to be apart of this tournament,” said head coach Gordy Presnell. “Grand Canyon will present us with a great challenge as a senior laden team. This will be a great experience against a very good team. I truly believe this will help our program down the road as we prepare for next year.”

Boise State enters the tournament at 17-13 overall and coming off a disappointing quarterfinal loss to Wyoming in the 2014 Reese’s Mountain West Basketball Championships. The Broncos finished the regular season tied for third in the final league standings with Nevada at 12-6 overall.

Grand Canyon is a new member of the Western Athletic Conference where they finished their first season as a NCAA Division I program last week going 21-8 overall and 10-6 in WAC play to place third. The Antelopes will pose a challenge for the young Broncos who have eight seniors on their roster, seven of which are transfers from other schools.
