BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The Mountain West Conference names Boise State's Derrick Marks their player of the week, but the sophomore guard has to share the honor with New Mexico's Alex Kirk.

Hard to believe anybody was as good as Marks this past week, especially when you look at Saturday's victory over Colorado State. Marks claimed a spot in the Boise State record books tying the fifth-highest single-game scoring effort with 38 points, 33 coming in the second half.

"It wasn't like they were uncontested shots, or it wasn't like they were easy buckets. I mean, it was pretty impressive. I'll bet when I watch the film I'll think it's even more impressive.

"And you know, the great thing about Derrick is when he came out of the game he apologized to me for his last two fouls and I said, 'You know what? I'll live with those two. We're ok,'" said Boise State head coach Leon Rice.

The Broncos have an unusual Tuesday tip against UNLV at the Thomas & Mack Center. It starts at 8 pm (MTN) and you can watch it live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.
