Yotes get invite from Frontier Conference

CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) - The College of Idaho has a conference to go along with their resurrected football program. The Yotes announced Wednesday afternoon that they will join the Frontier Conference in 2014, after getting approval from the Conference's Council of Presidents.

"We are extremely pleased to join the Frontier Conference, which shares The College of Idaho's commitment to educating student-athletes who excel in academics and athletics," said College of Idaho President Marv Henberg.

This decision was by no means a rubber stamp, but certainly expected by the Frontier Conference. During the Yotes seven decades of football, College of Idaho played against many of the teams projected to make up the Frontier in 2014.

"This is an ideal match, and we look forward to the excitement that Yotes fans will experience as we develop rivalries with our fellow members of the conference," said Henberg.

The most notable member of the Frontier is perennial power Carroll College. The Saints boast one of the most successful programs in NAIA history.

Five of the projected 2014 members call Montana home, with the only current member found outside of state being Eastern Oregon University.

EOU's presence in the Frontier gives the College of Idaho an built-in border battle with the boys from La Grande, Oregon.

Dickinson State (North Dakota) and Southern Oregon will join the conference this season.
