Former Boise State and University of Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins won his Canadian Football League coaching debut, guiding the Montreal Alouettes to a 38-33 win over Winnipeg.

After jumping to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Montreal needed 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Hawkins' Alouettes spoiled the grand opening of Winnipeg's brand new stadium, sending a sellout crowd of Blue Bombers fans home unhappy.
