ADA COUNTY, Idaho (KBOI) - The Boise Hawks have a new manager Gary Van Tol. The former Treasure Valley Community College baseball coach, and long-time Hawks assistant, slides over a few spots on the bench to take over as skipper.

Van Tol says knowing the team is a big bonus, but there are many advantages for a guy who makes his home right here in the Treasure Valley.

"I can go home, and be with my family. The support that I have from Christy has just been tremendous. It's not easy being married to a baseball guy, and our young kids, we have four young kids, so right now I'm not in a place where I'm willing to sacrifice the family to grind it out in minor league baseball. So this opportunity that I have is special," said Van Tol who will be Boise's 10th manager.

The Hawks also kept their pitching and hitting coaches in place. They renewed both David Rosario and Bill Buckner.

The season starts June 14, on the road in Eugene with the home opener three days later against Salem-Keizer.
