MOSCOW, Idaho (KBOI) - New Vandal head football coach Paul Petrino saw a spark from his ground game during Idaho's third scrimmage on Saturday; five touchdowns, while averaging more than five yards per carry.

Sure, it was just a scrimmage, but it's pretty exciting for a rushing attack that ranked 116 among the 120 FBS football programs last season.

"The running backs have been the studs of the camp, no doubt. 24 and 21, Kris and Jerrel, probably have been taking, so many hits that they were a little banged up. They need to come back next Friday and play like that.

"Those two might be the biggest studs we've had the whole camp. You know, it was good to see James get in there and have a long run, but I think running back is going to be one of our strengths," said Petrino.

Idaho's spring game starts at 7 pm (MTN) on Friday night at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.
