BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Paul Petrino's first Vandal football recruiting class includes three quarterbacks, bringing the total number of signal callers on Idaho's roster to six. One senior, one junior, two redshirt freshmen, and a pair of true freshman.

Petrino said Spring football will play a big role in deciding who will be under center for Idaho this fall.

"There will be four of them in Spring ball, so they'll battle and compete. Definitely one will come out as number one, and one will come out as number two. I think that will have a big impact on how it goes from there.

"The high school quarterback that we signed, Matt Linehan, was a great basketball player, played AU basketball his whole life, so he definitely needs a year of redshirting to get bigger and stronger. So, I think it'll all work itself out real easy," said Petrino.

Spring football begins on March 8 in Moscow.

Petrino also said he is in favor of renewing the Boise State rivalry. Troy Oppie will have more on that Saturday on KBOI 2 News.
