Steelheads get exhibition win against Utah
Boise, IDAHO (KBOI-TV) - The Idaho Steelheads split its exhibition schedule with the Utah Grizzlies, following a loss Friday in Logan, Utah with a 3-1 win Saturday in Boise's CenturyLink Arena.

In front of 4,813 fans, Idaho scored twice in the first period and again in the third. Returning forward Ron Meyers scored first, going forehand-to-backhand and tucking a shot through the legs of Utah goaltender Riley Gill at the 9:00 mark of the first.

About ten minutes later, Idaho rookie Corey Tamblyn picked up a loose puck, skated it to the bottom of the left-hand circle, and lifted the puck over Gill's shoulder short-side for what became the game-winning tally.

With a two-goal lead, Ryan Zapolski stole the show in net during the second period, making 16 of his 36 saves in that frame alone.

Utah's TJ Battani scored the Grizzlies' only goal of the game early in the third before Mike Towns knocked home an empty net goal to seal the win for Idaho with 36 seconds left.

The Steelheads begin the regular season Friday, October 12 at home against Utah, but will be on the road four of its first five games this season.
