You know, sometimes it's really scary how small a world it is.
Take the Idaho Vandals coaching vacancy, for one.
One of the candidates, Montana State coach Mike Kramer, actually interviewed for the position before Dennis Erickson was hired back in February. Kramer pulled his name out of the running a few days ago, but you know that feeling you get when you're trying to remember something? It hit me late Sunday afternoon.
Despite being a Vandal alum, Mike Kramer also has a connection to Boise State- well, at least former BSU coach Dan Hawkins. He beat him this year!
Montana State spoiled Dan Hawkins' Colorado debut on September 2nd with a 19-10 victory. It was the Bobcats' first win over a Division-I team in 22 years. Small world...
So that got me wondering, just how small is it?
Boise State football coach Chris Petersen is in his first season as head coach of the Broncos, but it's not the only place he's coached. Meanwhile Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has been coaching since 1983.
Have these guys paths ever crossed?
"Nope, not at all," says Petersen with a smile. "I've seen him on TV about a bazillion times, but that's about it."
