BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Not six months ago, the Boise State softball team was prepared to play its final season in the Mountain West with BSU's non-football sports moving to the Big West.

Of course, that never happened and the five-year-old softball program continues to enjoy the competitiveness of their conference.

"We know every time we get out here in this conference that we're going to have a game and we're going to have to compete strong to make it to the post season in this conference and I think that's fantastic," said head coach Erin Thorpe.

"The Mountain West is a great competitive league and everything. I think it's great that we're still staying and still being in a competitive arena," added senior slugger Devon Bridges

The Broncos took care of Nevada Thursday afternoon, putting up double-digit runs on the Wolfpack as they beat Nevada 10-2 in the opening game of their three-game season finale series.

The Broncos and Wolfpack are back on the Dona Larsen Diamond Friday at 3 pm, and Saturday at 1 pm.
