BOISE, Idaho - Boise State sophomore center Miquelle Askew has been named the Mountain West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 23-29 as announced by the conference office this morning.

Askew led the Broncos to the two-point win at home over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday with her second career double-double. This is Askew’s first career player of the week honor and the first of the season for Boise State.

Askew led Boise State to a hard fought 66-64 victory over Cal State Fullerton in Taco Bell Arena over the weekend. The sophomore from South Jordan, Utah, recorded team and career-highs for points and rebounds, with 23 and 13, respectively, as the Broncos snapped a three-game skid to close 2013 out on a high note.

She shot 70 percent from the floor making 7-of-10 shots, as well as 75 percent (9-of-12) from the free-throw line during the victory. Askew scored 14 of her points during the second half as Boise State held off the Titans in Taco Bell Arena.

Askew has also been named by College Sports Madness as the Madness Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the past week’s (Dec. 23-29) action.

College Sports Madness identifies weekly the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each Monday.
