Payette came from behind in the second half on the Grizzlies home field to take a stunning 26-21 victory home on Friday night.
Payette football reached the 3A playoffs for the first time in school history in 2008, with a key, one-point win over Weiser. The Pirates could do nothing to stop Fruitland, though - and a 54-7 2008 thumping seemed fresh in Payette's memory in 2009.
Payette is now tied with the Grizz in second place in the 3A SRV conference, but would own the head-to-head tiebreaker. Undefeated Weiser, which was idle Friday, remains atop the standings.
