MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Boise State running back Ian Johnson to the team's eight-member practice squad.
Johnson, in contention for the team's third string running back position through training camp, was cut Saturday as the Vikings trimmed its roster down the NFL limit of 53.
Despite being cut, Johnson was nearly a shoe-in to be signed to the practice squad if he cleared waivers (not signed by any other NFL team) which he did.
Bronco teammate Vinny Perretta, also an undrafted free agent with the Vikings was not signed to the Minnesota practice squad, and thus far has not been signed by any other team.
The rest of the Minnesota practice squad includes QB John David Booty, safety Colt Anderson (Montana), tackle Chris Clark, defensive tackle Tremaine Johnson, tight end Garrett Mills, receiver Nick Moore, and tackle Drew Radovich.
