BOISE--The Idaho Steelheads fell behind early, but were clutch late to pull out a 4-3 shootout win Wednesday night.
Idaho fell behind 2-0 in the first period Wednesday night thanks to one of the strangest goals you'll see in Qwest Arena. Utah's Ryan Kinaswewich sent the puck into the Idaho zone, but the puck took a strange bounce off the end boards and hit goaltender Reggie Beauchamin in the back of the head and went into the net.
However from there the Idaho offense took off. Riley Weselowski scored to draw Idaho within one, and Mark Derlago scored his 12th goal of the year to tie the game at 2-2.
Idaho briefly took the lead on a Kevin DeVergilio goal, but the Grizzlies forced overtime when Tim Crowder scored late to force the extra period.
The tie continued through overtime forcing a playoff where Steelhead goalie Reggie Beauchamin turned away four shots to help Idaho to a 4-3 win.
