The first major snow happened this year on the weekend of Oct 2-5 2009. Some pretty impressive snowfall totals came in to the weather center. Here are some total that occurred over the 3 day span:

11 miles northwest of Pine - 27"
6 miles west southwest of Atlanta -21"
3 miles west of Lowman - 19"
10 miles east northeast of Idaho City - 18"
7 miles west of Warm Lake - 17"
6 miles southwest of Cascade - 6"
3 miles northwest of McCall - 4"

And of course everyone is wondering about Bogus Basin. At 8:21 AM on October 5th, there was a report of 9" at the Bogus Basin Snotel which is about 6340 ft in elevation and still snowing at that time.

That was a great first major snow for the mountains of Boise!
