Mount Rainier puts on a show!
Mount Rainier with lenticular clouds. By Vin CrosbyOne of the coolest things you'll ever see in the atmosphere are lenticular clouds. They can take on amazing shapes that will leave you in awe. Today a series of pictures were sent to me from Mount Rainier. I've got to run to do the news at 9 on KYUU. But I had to post a link to our sister stations blog who have posted them all. I'll use them on air tonight. Thanks to Kenneth Spriggs of Boise for passing them along. www.komonews.com/weather/blog/35631614.html Lenticular clouds are formed with air being forced up one side of the mountain, condensing into a cloud, and then dampened out on the other side. With the flow of the air around the mountain tremendous shapes can occur. |
