Vin Crosby reported (after the recent snowfall) that the size of the snowflakes was like nothing he'd ever seen before--being as large as tennis balls. This first photo shows what the snow-cover looks like in Fruitland (after we received snowflakes just as large at this end of the valley). It almost looks like we had a hailstorm rather than a snowstorm.
The second photo just shows how deep the snow-cover is in the Fruitland area. It no doubt is contributing to the colder temperatures that are being reported to the TV stations--from the Ontario observation person. However, I believe that person had better get their thermometer re-calibrated, because at noon today when they were reporting 20 degrees in Ontario, I checked my thermometer (I live just across the river in Fruitland) at the same time, and it was reading 32. The temperatures that the Ontario reporter has been sending to the TV stations is making it sound like the West-end of the valley is like living in an ice-box. I realize that all this snow-cover makes the temperatures a lot colder than they would be without snow, but what that Ontario observer has been reporting lately is consistently way colder than what I'm seeing on my thermoter at that same time.
