FIRST Team 1891 - The Bullbots

Robotics Team is headed for Nationals

Meridian Idaho High School Team (Team 1891 - The Bullbots) wins FIRST Robotics (usfirst.org) most prestigious award at the Utah Regional event this past weekend; the chairman's award. They will head to St. Louis on April 27th for the National Competition. This team is made up of students from Mountain View High School, Renaissance High School, and Centennial high School. http://www.bullbots.org

The FIRST Robotics Competition is about much more than the mechanics of building a robot or winning a competitive event. It is about the partnership among people who are part of the FIRST community and the impact on those who participate in FIRST programs with a united goal of achieving FIRST’s mission. The FIRST mission is to change the way young people regard science and technology and to inspire an appreciation for the real-life rewards and career opportunities in these fields.

The concept of the Chairman’s Award includes Regional Chairman’s
Awards, which enable FIRST to recognize more teams for their exemplary efforts in spreading the FIRST message and their talents in organizing materials for their presentations. The winning entries of the Regional Chairman’s Awards will travel to the FIRST Championship to compete for the 2011 National Chairman’s Award. More information on FIRST is located at http://www.usfirst.org

The team has two weeks to raise the funds needed for travel.

Nice to see that the local news is taking an interest in our kids accomplishments outside of athletics. My question is why did this story not mention the actual winning robotics team, Team Tators, made up of kids from Boise School District and TVMSC

It is because the Bull Bots need the news to become known. Team Tators use there robot to become known! We do not need the press to become well known!

The Bullbots chairmans win is a really great accomplishment and something that is notable and worthy of coverage and celebration. Personally hope that it is not members of our team who are posting these comments.
