BOISE – Don Hendrix just bought his first home.

For he and his wife the $8,000 tax credit made a huge difference.

“It's really the difference between finding a home right now and finding a home next summer," Hendrix said.

The deals are out there.

At Cabella Creek in Meridian brand new homes are going for less than $150,000. But, if you don’t move fast Realtor John Chandler says you are approaching an expensive deadline of Nov.

"That one day could cost that buyer or borrower $8,000, the cost is too great to wait," Chandler said.

Chandler also says you could possibly find delays because of a large number of other folks closing on homes.

"Plus there's the potential for a crush of closings at title companies so scheduling could potentially become a problem,” Chandler added.

It’s not enough to have a contract on a house, however. To get the money, the deal needs to be closed by Nov. 30.

Chandler also says that means you need to move now because it can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to close.
