Kuna bans shooting firearms within city limits
KUNA,Idaho(KBOI) - The Kuna City Council voted Tuesday night to ban the use of firearms within city limits.

The city says the new ordinance is necessary because there have been several instances where someone has fired a gun in an unsafe manner in the city.

The ban includes air rifles, BB guns and paintball guns as well.

The law has exceptions for shooting ranges, law enforcement officers, and people who use a firearm in an act of self defense.

Some people at the meeting were against the ban, saying it would prevent ranchers from shooting an animal that was attacking their livestock.

Violating the ordinance is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $1000 fine, according to the city.

The ban takes effect immediately.

Boise and most Ada and Canyon County cities have similar bans.
