Elderly man fends off intruder, uses medical alert device to call for help

NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - Nampa Police say an elderly man managed to fight off an intruder at his house early Sunday morning.

Nampa PD says a man broke into a 78-year-old man's house and woke the victim up as he was trying to remove property from the house. The victim was able to alert authorities using a medical alert activation system.

The burglar ran off after a brief struggle with the victim. Police were unable to find him.

The 78-year-old suffered minor injuries.

The male is described as a Hispanic male with a thin face, between 25 and 30 years of age, weighing between 150 and 180 pounds, 5'8' to 5'10" in height and wearing pants and possibly a red and white T-shirt style shirt. He was last seen running away from the area toward Constitution Ave.
