Concerned Micron Employee Talks
They're no longer rumors. Micron leaders say layoffs are looming and one Micron employee says they are already here.

"About 200 people got laid off."

CBS 2 Eyewitness News spoke to one Micron employee, he didn't want to be identified because he says he's worried about getting fired, especially after what he says happened on Friday.

"They badged in and went to work like normal and then they got the tap on shoulder and were invited into the office and got handed their severance package and walked out," the employee told CBS 2 Eyewitness News.

He said his co-workers at the company are trying to just focus on their jobs, but it's hard as the rumors continue.

"The big rumor that's going around is that there are suppose to lay off as many as 5,000 people worldwide, and some where in the ball park of 2,000 from the Boise plant."

If those numbers are true, that would mean about 20 percent of Micron's workforce in Boise could get laid off. The company has not confirmed or denied any numbers, all they're telling CBS 2 Eyewitness News right now is:

"We've determined that some workforce reductions in certain areas of the business will occur as we realign," said Micron Spokesman Dan Francisco during a phone interview.

Knowing that has at least one employee trying to plan a head for the next job.

"I already got one lined up, I'm staying prepared and I'm trying not to think about it."

That employee says Micron workers received an E-mail from CEO Steve Appleton on Friday. In that message CBS 2 Eyewitness News was told he apologized, and took responsibility for mistakes that led to where Micron is now.
