Brush fire near Firebird Raceway forces evacuations

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Fire crews responded to a brush fire that threatened structures near Highway 16 and Firebird Raceway Tuesday night.

The Bureau of Land Management estimated the fire to be about 724 acres acres in size and is now completely contained.

Highway 16 was closed at Beacon Light Road while crews battled the blaze. The road is open at this time, and the people who were evacuated are allowed to return back home.

One barn, and one outbuilding was damaged by flames. No homes were lost, and no injuries were reported.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office says that homes on Chaparral Road, Spangler Place, Edgeview Road, and Broadview Road containing 50-100 people were evacuated.

The Eagle Fire Department says about 30 structures were threatened at one time.
