13 new fires in Boise National Forest from lightning strikes

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Forest Service officials say lightning strikes have sparked 13 new fires in the Boise National Forest Thursday evening.

Officials say the fires are all less than an acre in size and they aren't threatening any structures at this time.

Smokejumpers, helitack firefighters, fire crews, and engines are responding.

Most of the fires are burning east of Garden Valley and east of Deadwood reservoir.

Officials say that due to the dry conditions and abundant lightning, more fires are expected to start.
