SEATTLE -- A South Park family got an unwelcome surprise on Sunday when a metal bar mysteriously fell from the sky and crashed into their home.

The family called police on Tuesday to report the oddity, and when police arrived at their South Director Street home they found a three-pound bar and an eight-inch by six-inch hole in the roof and ceiling.

Police called the Federal Aviation Administration, but it's still unclear how the object came to land on the home.

An officer who responded to the scene surmised the piece of metal may have fallen from an "aircraft or a really big bird that had stolen a lead bar," according to police.

It does not appear that anyone was injured.
