Wrong extension cord wiring caused deadly trailer fire
MELBA - The Canyon County Sheriff's office said Tuesday that two women were found dead inside a home after a fire in Melba. Authorities say at 9:30 a.m. a fire was reported near Melba high school on Carrie Rex Ave.

On Wednesday afternoon, Melba Fire officials said the victims used a wrong extension cord for a space heater, which overheated and then caught fire.

When crews arrived the flames were too great to enter the home and firefighters say the trailer was about 70 percent gone. When the fire was finally put out about an hour later, investigators found the two adult female bodies while combing the debris.

The victims have not been officially identified due to the condition of their remains, but neighbors say it was the twin sisters who lived in the home since about 2007.

"It's a shame to have to die that way," said Thelma Kennedy, neighbor.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
