BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - An 18-year-old Meridian resident has been arrested after police say he hit a bicyclist with his vehicle and then took off Thursday morning.

Boise PD says Alexander C. Thackery, 18, ran a red light heading eastbound on Myrtle Street when the vehicle hit the bicyclist. Witnesses told police Thackery did not stop after the crash and continued to drive east on Myrtle.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say Thackery stopped and parked his vehicle in a parking lot on Warm Springs Avenue and South Straughn. He was then seen walking back toward the scene of the crash. BPD says Thackery called 911 to let them know where he was.

After an investigation, police charged Thackery with felony leaving the scene of an injury crash. He also received a citation for running a red light, BPD said.
