BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The Ada County Coroner's Office has identified the man who died while driving Bogus Basin Road over the weekend.
Officials say 80-year-old Cesar Quijano of Boise of Boise died from blunt force trauma due to the crash. Police say his vehicle went down a revine near Mile Post 8.
Quijano had spent 44 years with the Bogus Basin Ski Patrol, according to an online tribute website.
"For those who knew him, Cesar was not a large man in stature, but he had an enormous presence in terms of personality and character," the tribute states.
"Most important, he had that rare ability to touch people and those who knew him will forever have the benefit of walking in the shadow of his influence of dignity, integrity, kindness and grace."
The Ada County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the crash.
ACHD says from 1997 to 2012, there have been 505 crashes on the road to the top -- 374 of them were caused by drivers going too fast, and another 114 were caused by inattentive driving or people driving to the left of the center line.
ACHD says in the past 15 years, only four wrecks on Bogus Basin Road, including Saturday's crash, have been deadly.
