Snow is already affecting areas in Oregon. Here's Government Camp.

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Folks heading up to the mountains this weekend better be prepared.

The snow is going to pile up in a big way.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the west central mountains, Boise mountains and the Camas Prairie. It's in effect through 6 a.m.

"The front we've been talking about the last few days is now approaching Portland and Seattle and will be arriving overnight," said Vin Crosby, KBOI meteorologist.

Many mountain locations could see upward of 15 inches of snow overnight. There's also a possibility of one to two inches of snow in the Treasure Valley.  | Full Forecast

Winds will crank when the front passes and speeds could be well over 45 mph. There will be blowing and drifting snow over the mountain passes.  Temperatures will be the highest on Saturday around midnight Friday night into Saturday morning and in the 40s for Boise but fall into the 30s for the remainder of the day.
