Idaho Summit Fire
The Summit Fire in Boise County is an estimated 370 acres in size and 72 percent contained. The fire is located 14 miles northeast of Idaho City. About 345 fire personnel and aerial resources are working the fire. Weather is hot and dry with low relative humidity, typical summer conditions that make fighting fire challenging in subalpine fir and lodgepole pine - the fuels that are feeding this fire, fire bosses said. Lightning started the Summit Fire on Tuesday evening, July 16, and strong winds spread the flames quickly. No structures are threatened.
