Firefighter pleads guilty to starting Karney Fire

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - An 18-year-old who officials say started a dangerous wildfire on purpose has pleaded guilty.
Nathanial Bartholomew pleaded guilty to felony arson in the third degree, Boise County court officials told KBOI-TV.
Bartholomew, a volunteer firefighter in the Robie Creek area, allegedly started the Karney Fire on purpose to bring himself attention from family members. Officials say he was spotted fighting the Sept. 17 fire when responders arrived.
The Karney Fire burned about 440 acres and threatened about 100 homes at its worse. The fire destroyed one home.
Bartholomew is scheduled to be sentenced March 14.
I am glad to see that the BLUE CODE applies. He was charged with FIRST DEGREE ARSON! Being a son of a Boise County fire departement employee, everyone from the prosecutor to the arresting officer, to the Boise County Sheriff to the public defender to the judge takes care of their own. He is not guilty of THIRD DEGREE ARSON - ask the homeowners!
