Death of Mountain Home airman being investigated

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Police are investigating the death of a Mountain Home Air Force Base airman Wednesday afternoon.

The base says that the airman was found dead by the Elmore County Sheriff's Office and Mountain Home Police Department in Mountain Home.

The name of the airman is not being released until next of kin can be notified.

"Today we mourn the loss of a valued member of the Gunfighter and Air Force family," said Col. Byron Anderson, 366th Fighter Wing vice commander in a press release. "Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family, friends and coworkers during this difficult and tragic time."

The cause of death is being investigated.
