Emmett woman killed in crash on Highway 52

NEW PLYMOUTH, Idaho (KBOI) - A 51-year-old Emmett woman has been killed in a crash in New Plymouth, Idaho State Police says.

Police say Tina Helmick was driving on Highway 52 in a 1990 Geo Prizm when she attempted to make a U-turn at SE 1st Ave.

ISP says a truck hauling corn was driving behind Helmick and was unable to stop when she started to make the U-turn, which resulted in the truck crashing into the driver's side of her car.

Officials say Helmick succumbed to her injuries at the scene. One of Helmick's passengers was flown by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus in Boise, another was taken by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus in Ontario.

The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured.

ISP says the crash is under investigation.
