PORTLAND, Ore. – A motorcyclist was badly injured on Thursday morning when police said he hit an SUV after speeding more than 130 miles per hour down I-205.

Toby Olsen, 52, was speeding on his 2004 Honda motorcycle on I-205 early Thursday morning when he pulled up alongside a state trooper, according to Portland police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Simpson said Olsen then sped away from the trooper, who clocked him going more than 130 miles per hour.

The trooper did not give chase but saw Olsen crash up ahead at the Stark Street overpass.

Simpson said Olsen rode his bike into the back of a Lexus SUV driven by a 78-year-old woman. Olsen suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and is still in critical condition as of midday Thursday.

The woman driving the Lexus was not hurt, although her SUV was badly damaged.

Simpson said investigators think alcohol played a role in the crash.

I-205 re-opened for traffic around 4 a.m.
