Wildlife officials are investigating two reports of sturgeon poaching along the Snake River below the CJ Strike Reservoir.
The Nampa Fish and Game office received two different reports of large sturgeon loaded into vehicles and taken away. Sturgeon fishing is allowed along that stretch of the River but only under a catch and release policy. Regulations prohibit removing sturgeon from the water because of their fragile bodies.
Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for information in both cases of poaching. Officials urge anyone with information to call CAP at 1-800-632-5999, the Fish and Game Nampa office at 208-465-8465, or Idaho State Police at 208-846-7500.
