Balaguert's blast leads Hawks past Hops
BOISE, Idaho - Yasiel Balaguert hit a tie-breaking two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting the Boise Hawks to a 5-3 victory over the Hillsboro Hops, before 2,544 fans at Memorial Stadium.

After a one-out Jacob Rogers single in the eighth, Balaguert clubbed a 1-0 offering from Johnny Shuttlesworth deep over the left-centerfield wall - his second go-ahead homer of the year.

Jasvir Rakkar got the win, tossing two shutout innings, with Mike Hamann getting the final three outs for his third save in as many chances.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the second, when Balaguert scampered home on a wild pitch, but Hillsboro got a RBI single by Ryan Gebhardt in the third and a RBI double by Zach Esquerra in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Boise tied it in the bottom of the fourth on a Cael Brockmeyer single, but it was short-lived, as a two-out Yogey-Perez Ramos triple plated Taylor Ratliff in the fifth to give the Hops the 3-2. The hosts responded, as Jacob Hannemann tripled and scored on a single from Shawon Dunston Jr.

Hannemann, Dunston, and Rogers each had two hits in the win, with Esquerra and Guiterrez each notching two hits for the Hops.

Boise continues their six-game homestand tomorrow night, with the first of three against the Eugene Emeralds at 7:15 p.m. Duane Underwood gets the ball for the Hawks, opposite Brian Verbitsky.
