Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Oregon announced former Idaho Stampede and University of Oregon basketball player Luke Jackson as its new head men's basketball coach.

Jackson, who won a D-League Championship with the Idaho Stampede and spent several years on NBA rosters before finishing his pro career in Israel, grew up in nearby Creswell, Oregon.

He replaces Corey Anderson, who will now focus solely on Athletic Director duties.

“I've had personal relationships over the years with both Coach Anderson and Coach Lipp and had many friends go to NCU," Jackson said in a statement from the university.

"Being a former professional basketball player and a man of faith, I feel very excited for the chance to not only help players excel on the basketball court but also to grow as men.”

Northwest Christian is an NAIA institution which competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference against schools including the College of Idaho. The Beacons men's basketball team finished 3-15 in conference and 9-21 overall this season.
