BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Boise-based Exergy Development Group has announced it is scrapping the 2013 Exergy Tour, a five-stage women's bike race hosted in Boise for the first time last year.

Exergy said in a press release obtained by velonews.com that it was the sole sponsor of the tour, scheduled for June 4-9, and was not able to make that financial model work. The Exergy Tour has already been removed from the event calendar on USA Cycling's website.

This is the third event Exergy Development Group has pulled out of sponsoring this year, and according to velonews.com, the group is $4 million behind in its financial commitments to 2013 bike races.

Organizers said Exergy will attempt to revive the Exergy Tour in 2014.
