Caldwell author set to release Murder on Cell Block 9, which is the riveting true story of Idaho drug king Richard Holmes, who was brutally murdered during a prison riot as guards stood outside watching.
Ms. Webb has captured the intense emotional roller coaster that was the life of Richard Holmes. She tells of how he first began his drug dealing career and how that lifestyle affected several people across the nation.
A confidential informant was used in a drug raid at the Holmes residence and eight days later, she disappeared from her home. The lead detective in the case had such an overwhelming sense of guilt about the situation that he became obsessed with finding the woman.
When Holmes was brutally murdered in an Idaho State prison, guards were standing outside watching and listening as their commanding officers refused to let them take action. That was just one more twist to this tragic story.
About the Author:
2009 Boise State University graduate, L.D. Webb grew up in the relatively small town of Caldwell, Idaho. She is a former member of the Caldwell Police Explorer program, which gives her a unique perspective in regards to Richard Holmes, who was her uncle. She was able to see the story from the family’s perspective, and could also understand the law enforcement point of view.
Knowing the details surrounding Richards’s life and death has always made Ms. Webb especially interested in educating people about the devastating effects of drug use. After her step-son, Steven passed away from a meth overdose in 2008 that interest turned into more of a nagging feeling that she could not ignore.
Upcoming events: The author will be hosting a Book Signing at Hastings (1870 Caldwell Blvd., Nampa) on Saturday, August 6 to mark the official release of this stunning story.
