Premiere of "BELLY" Documentary at IIFF

The Idaho premiere of "BELLY" will be at 2:15 on Saturday September 27th , 2008 at the Egyptian Theater as part of the Idaho International Film Festival.
"BELLY" is an intimate peek into the personal lives of several belly-dancers who have been profoundly affected by this unique dance form. Sometimes referred to as Middle-Eastern Dance , it has evolved beyond its origins, and the dancers presented in this documentary share a distinctly American experience. Cecilia, the documentary's director combines her story of belly-dancing for over 14 years with the stories of several other dancers to present a tapestry of experience that reveals an unexpected side to belly-dancing. This documentary lets the dancers interviewed tell the story of being a belly dancer in their own words, which covers the topics of family, body image, sisterhood, female empowerment, and spirituality.

Cecilia & Chad Rinn of Full Tilt Boogie L.L.C. have been working on the documentary for 3 years. The film has been funded entirely from performances, and the sale of belly dance costumes created by Cecilia Rinn, who is not only the director of this film, but also a professional belly-dancer. Cecilia & Chad have been veterans of the local independent scene, starting with their first narrative feature "Half Ass Jig" in 2001, and helping form local film support groups like Small Pond Films. They have had their short films screening as part of the Idaho International Film festival for the last 5 years. A work in progress version of BELLY screened at Washougal International Film Festival and won the Audience Choice Award in August. This is Full Tilt Boogie's first feature length documentary film.
